Shandong Nanshan Aluminium secures patent for high-stress corrosion-resistant alloy profile for large aircraft

According to the intellectual property records of Tianyancha, Shandong Nanshan Aluminium has been granted a patent titled "A Product of Al-Mg-Cu Series Aluminum Alloy L Profile with High Stress Corrosion Resistance for Large Aircraft and Its Manufacturing Method." The patent was applied with the authorisation announcement number CN116411210B in March 2023.

The patent abstract reveals that the invention provides a method for preparing an Al-Mg-Cu series aluminium alloy L-shaped extruded material with enhanced resistance to stress corrosion cracking, specifically designed for large aircraft. The technique involves several key steps: alloy composition matching, casting, uniform heat treatment of round ingots, extrusion processing, pre-stretching, pre-sawing, solution heat treatment, stretching and straightening, and natural ageing. metal square edge tile edging trim

The resulting L-shaped extruded aluminium alloy exhibits stress corrosion resistance that far exceeds mainstream aircraft manufacturers' acceptance standards. Additionally, by optimising the layout of the extrusion die holes, the stress corrosion resistance at various positions of the extruded material can be further enhanced. This advancement allows for broader application of the Al-Mg-Cu series alloy, extending the service life of aircraft and reducing maintenance costs.
