SAEclimber has developed a telescopic mast-climbing work platform specifically for the demolition of tall industrial stacks and other similar structures with significant variations in diameter.

Designed to address challenges in projects where conventional methods are impractical, the Telescopic Mastclimber Platform combines elements of mast climbers, telescopic components and integrated hoists, to provide what is described as an adaptable and efficient access solution for challenging demolition projects.

The platform consists of a telescopic mast system that can be extended or retracted as needed, maintaining a consistent distance between the work deck and the structure being demolished.

This feature allows it to accommodate the tapering diameters typical of high stacks, eliminating the need for oversized wall ties.

The platform is equipped with dedicated hoists for personnel access and an additional emergency hoist, ensuring safety during operations.

Unlike traditional scaffolding systems, the platform is self-assembling and does not require cranes or other external equipment for installation or disassembly.

In addition, the system can be reused for different diameters, different kinds of buildings and even in standard mastclimber and construction hoists applications.

SAEclimber’s engineering team provides clients with load calculations, custom designs, supervision of assembly, and certifications, providing a turnkey service from project initiation to completion.

The system has been deployed in at least four demolition projects to date, where it addressed the limitations of standard mast-climbing platforms in high-stack demolitions.

These projects involved structures exceeding 200 metres in height, with significant diameter differences between the base and the top.

The product was developed in response to client requests for a solution that could safely and efficiently handle the unique challenges of high-stack demolition.

The platform’s versatility is also said to extend beyond demolition, with the potential for use in other applications, including standard mast-climber configurations and construction hoists.
