My vacuum just didn't get the job done. silicone bristle broom
As a proud pet owner, there are certain realities that I’ve grown to accept, one of them being that no matter how meticulously or frequently you clean, there’s always going to be pet hair on your floor, furniture, and clothes. I have a German Shepherd, a long-haired Maine Coon cat, and a Yorkie (who lives with my parents), so I am no stranger to dealing with pet hair. After finding that my traditional vacuum wasn’t cleaning my carpets as deeply as I would like, I took to Amazon to find a solution—and I came across a cleaning tool that has quite literally changed how I clean.
This set of FURemover XL Pet Hair Removal Brooms caught my attention as I browsed options that promised to tackle pesky pet hair on a variety of surfaces. After stumbling upon it among other results, I was pleased to find that it not only is backed by over 71,000 five-star ratings, but it’s also rated as the best broom for pet hair by the Real Simple testing lab.
At first glance, the broom is a bit deceiving—it doesn't look nearly as impressive as it actually is. I’ll admit I was skeptical of the broom at first, because I had tried similar products that didn’t yield a decent result. I assumed my regular cleaning was enough to keep pet hair at bay—boy was I wrong.
The broom is uniquely designed with thick bristles made from 100 percent natural rubber that digs into carpets of all pile types to remove pet hair, human hair, debris like crumbs, and dirt. The bristled portion of the broom is a bit on the heavier side, which I found worked super well with gravity to get deep into my carpets. With short, swift motions, I started in one small section of my living room carpet, where the animals hang out regularly, and was shocked as I saw a thick line of fur start to gather at the edge of the broom. Energized and excited by the immediate results of my efforts, I quickly pivoted and began sweeping my entire living room, and was actually disgusted by the amount of hair I removed—which by the time I was finished, looked like a full-sized pet I didn’t know I had.
Outside of the impressive pet hair removing capabilities, the broom also features a built-in squeegee edge that can be used to wipe up liquid messes on both indoor or outdoor hard floor surfaces. It also makes hard-to-reach windows squeaky clean. I have yet to test the squeegee part of the broom, but the Real Simple testing lab found it “capable of scooping up liquids spilled on hard floors” and fine to use as a squeegee when used “from certain angles.”
What I love most about this purchase, in addition to how well it cleaned my carpets, is that it comes with two brooms. You can opt to get a single FURemover Broom, but I personally liked the fact that the set has a normal-sized broom with a 12-inch bristle attachment as well as an extra large one that measures 18 inches long. Plus, as someone who is short, I appreciate that the broom handle is adjustable and can be customized anywhere between 36-inch and 60-inch heights, so everyone can enjoy the fun of using it.
