Located at Woodward and Grand River in the heart of downtown Detroit, construction of the skyscraper is the largest ground-up development in the last 50 years in Detroit.

According to Bedrock Detroit, more than 3,500 tradespeople have been involved in its construction.

“The talent and dedication of Detroit’s tradespeople has been a driving force on the Hudson’s Site and integral to achieving this landmark project,” said Dan Gilbert, Founder & Chairman of Bedrock. “We are proud of their individual contributions, that will make this a generational development and will surely enhance the city’s skyline for Detroiters and visitors for decades to come.”

In the coming weeks, work on the exterior will continue with the dismantling of the buck hoist, the construction elevator on the north side of the tower.

When construction is complete, the Hudson development will introduce more than 1.5 million square feet of new retail, office, dining, hospitality, residential and event amenities to the 1200 Woodward Avenue block of downtown Detroit.

The upper floors of the tower will be home to close to 100 residential units, providing some of the best views of the city. The 5-star hotel will feature more than 200 luxury rooms. There will also be an outdoor plaza and indoor gallery with public art and exhibitions and year-round programming.

At 681-feet high, the Hudson Building is second in height in Michigan to the Renaissance Center, which is 727 feet.
