These $25 Under Cabinet Lights Are My Cyber Monday Amazon Score

Over the holiday weekend, a few friends invited me and my husband over to cook dinner together while we were waiting to move into our new apartment (long story, now resolved). We decided to make dumplings the main event, so it would be a group activity before eating. I was hacking the filling recipe with the tools we had—no food processor, just a personal blender—when it dawned on me that I hadn’t turned on any task lights. I didn’t need to because, by motion sensor, one was already illuminated above the countertop where I was working. The glow was warmer and brighter than it had any business being, and I immediately needed to know what the product was.

My friend divulged that it was just a magnetic under-cabinet light that he sourced from Amazon—but then all the smart details came out and I knew I needed to pick some up. To start, they are barely noticeable at just a half-inch thickness, and the fact that they’re magnetic makes them all the more versatile. They can attach to any metal surface outright, but they also come with adhesive plates so you can add light to every nook.

In addition to on and off modes, they have a motion sensor option that will activate within 10 feet but automatically turn off after 20 seconds of no detected movement. I love that they are rechargeable via USB-C; just remove them, plug in, and then reattach. The brand claims that a charge is said to last from seven to 30 days depending on use. Plus there are five different dimmable settings so you get the optimal brightness. With more than 20,000 reviews and a 4.5-star rating on Amazon, you don’t have to just take it from me or my friend—these little workhorses clearly have fans.

While we don’t need them for our kitchen, we’re planning to put them in a pantry/dinnerware storage area that doesn’t have built-in lighting and in our laundry closet. I’m always a fan of a problem solved before it even crops up.
