Over the holiday weekend, a few friends invited me and my husband over to cook dinner together while we were waiting to move into our new apartment (long story, now resolved). We decided to make dumplings the main event, so it would be a group activity before eating. I was hacking the filling recipe with the tools we had—no food processor, just a personal blender—when it dawned on me that I hadn’t turned on any task lights.
